Porshe High Class

Porsche’s new president and CEO, Michael Macht, anounced that the company is considering an electric-powered sports car that would meet the high demands of the Porsche brand. “I am also convinced that one day Porsche will have an electric sports car in its line-up,” said Macht at the company’s press conference.



“An electric sports car would therefore only make sense for Porsche if it offers performance and a cruising range similar to that of current sports cars in the market,” he said. “We are therefore taking the first step in this direction with a full hybrid – in the Cayenne, the Panamera and maybe in the not too distant future also in a racing car or a production 911. Why not?”

The highly anticipated Panamera represents Porsche’s fourth model line and is the brand’s first-ever four-door sports car. It goes on sale in the U.S. on October 17, 2009. “Although the car has only been at the dealership for three days, we already have 4,500 orders for the Panamera, most of them from customers who have not even seen the car yet,” he said Macht. “And since test drives for customers have only just started, sales of the Panamera are already making a very positive start.”

2010 Kia Picanto: Morning Mini Facelift

Koreans presented updated Kia Morning mini car, known worldwide as the Picanto. This is second facelift for this model, first time was in 2007. As in 2007, design changes turned out barely noticeable - the most obvious changes in the front and rear bumpers, grille, and optics.

Korean version Picanto will come with specific bumper and chrome radiator grille with Soul crossover styling. Interior updates include steering wheel and dashboard.

New Kia Picanto 2010 comes with two engine options: LPI environmentally friendly 1 liter 67 hp four-cylinder and improved 72 hp gasoline engine of the same volume (8 hp stronger compared to the previous generation).

New VW Golf Plus BiFuel Goes on Sale in Europe

Wolfsburg company is expanding the model range of its new Golf Plus crossover with an LPG-capable version called Golf Plus BiFuel.



Redesigned four cylinder engine 1.6, delivers 102 hp on petrol and 98 hp on natural liquefied gas. Crossover consumes 9.8 liters of natural gas per 100 km, throwing into the atmosphere 10% less CO2 (159g/km) than when using gasoline.

The new LPG-capable VW Golf Plus is available for sale in the Trendline and Comfortline versions starting from €22,460.

Kia has announced pricing for its new entry in the compact-car segment, the 2010 Forte sedan.

2010 Kia Forte comes with four-cylinder engines- LX and EX models are supercharged by a 156-hp, 2.0-liter, while the top-spec SX uses a 2.4-liter that produces 173 hp. Four transmissions are available, depending on package - automatic five-speed (LX and EX) or six-speed manuals (SX). The LX and EX semiautomatic has quaternary forward ratios, unless you opt for the EX Fuel-Economy package, which gets the aforementioned five-speed semiautomatic offered on the SX.

New Mazda 2-Seater: Mazda2 Based Roadster

Japanese Mazda is planning a new two-seater roadster that would be based on the underpinnings of the current generation Mazda2.



The proposed two-seater is said to use the same engine range as the Mazda2, including European configurations: 1.3- and 1.5-liter gasoline units and 1.4- and 1.6-liter diesel ones.

Renault is updating its Sandero lineup with the Sandero Stepway SUV, after launching the Dacia Sandero LPG Hatchback brand there. It was expected that Porsche’s Panamera sedan will be produced at Geneva auto show last year but till today Porsche still has come to nothing more than just releasing photos of its new creation. At last an official unveiling of Panamera happened today at the 13th Auto Show in Shanghai.



The car will go on sale in China, now Porsche's third-largest market, in January 2010, with a price tag of 1.85 million yuan ($270,800) and 2.5 million yuan ($365,900) for the turbo version, it said. It aims to sell 2,000 units in the first year. To all appearances the Panamera will be a success.

New Toyota Verso 7-Seater MPV

New generation Toyota Verso minivan will make its world debut in Geneva next week.



With the exception of the Avensis-inspired front-end, the Verso MPV's styling is evolutionary. New Verso is 70mm longer and 20mm wider than the previous model.

New model will have 20% increase in power and torque, as well as a 12% reduction in carbon-dioxide emissions and fuel-consumption. The power train lineup includes 1.6 and 1.8L Valvematic petrol units, paired to either a 6-speed manual or new Multidrive S CVT, as well as 2.0 and 2.2L turbo diesels.

Italian company Alfa Romeo will show new MiTo sports hatchback version called MiTo GTA at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Designers from Abarth gave it tuned 1.8-liter 240 hp turbo engine. Dynamics of hot-hatch will further improve the reduced weight, aerodynamic shape and reduced clearance.

Hummer H2 will be closed

It's expected that General Motors's vehicle Hummer H2 will be closed for at least an additional 15 weeks beyond that.

Responding to rumors that the assembly line has been permanently dismantled, Craig MacNab, a spokesperson for AM General, the company that operates the facility for General Motors, says the plant is intact and ready to restart production when and if they get the word from GM, Fox News reports.



A Hummer spokesperson would not confirm the exact details of the length of the closure, but said, "we will produce more when we get more dealer orders."

A target for critics because of its low fuel economy, H2 sales were down more than 50 percent in 2008, Fox News reports, with just 374 units sold in December of last year. The Hummer brand is currently under review by General Motors as part of the company's restructuring plan spurred on by the recent government bailout and is reportedly being considered for sale or elimination.

Two hundred employees were affected by the shutdown, but MacNab says AM General is in the process of transferring them to a neighboring plant that builds the military-spec Humvee for the U.S. and foreign military outfits, rather than allowing them to be laid off indefinitely. Fifty workers already have found new positions helping build 80 of the off-road vehicles each day.

Dacia Sport Coupe Concept

Renault-Nissan Alliance will present sport coupe under its own Dacia brand at the international motor show in Geneva, which opens on March 2, 2009.







Currently Dacia produces only low-cost and practical vehicles, among which three modified models of Logan - sedan, station wagon and pickup, as well as the hatchback Sandero. Previously, it was reported that Dacia developing compact crossover based on the Logan platform. VW BlueSport Roadster Concept

The long-awaited concept of sports roadster Volkswagen BlueSport was presented at the Detroit Motor Show in 2009. And at this moment there is no doubt that the sports car will soon go into production.






Behind the two sport bucket-shaped seats of BlueSport roadster is a 2.0 liter 180 hp TDI turbo-diesel engine. VW BlueSport is rear wheel drive and comes with a 6-speed DSG transmission with double clutch which allows Volkswagen BlueSport Roadster to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 6.6 seconds, a speed limit is 226 km/h.

VW BlueSport is quite economical and has an average fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100 km. One reason for this is the automatic motor start-stop and brake energy regeneration system.

Mercedes-Benz BlueZERO Concept

Mercedes introduced a series of three BlueZERO concepts at auto show which started on 11 January, in Detroit. All models are built on a common base, which is used in A and B-Class Mercedes-Benz.







BlueZERO E-CELL is equipped with a lithium-ion batteries and can travel 200 kilometers on just electricity;

BlueZERO F-CELL is able to travel 400 km on electricity;

BlueZERO E-CELL PLUS is equipped with an electric motor and an additional 67-strong engine from the Smart Fortwo, located at the rear. The car is able to travel 600 kilometers at a time, with 100 km on electric power alone.

1937 Bugatti

Rare 1937 Bugatti found locked in garage could fetch millions of dollars today, NEWCASTLE reports.



The owner, Dr. Harold Carr 1937bought the Bugatti, won the 1937 Le Mans 24-hour race, in 1955.

Mr. Carr lives near Newcastle, had no children and the cars now belong to his nieces and nephews. Other people did know about the Bugatti, said a nephew who did not want his name used.

"We just can't believe it," he said. "It's amazing, really. It's worth so much because he hasn't used it for 50 years. People must have known because he got letters from all over the country. He got notes pushed through his door. People traveled to try and convince him to sell the car."
